Antique tea caddy /w cut crystal mixing bowl. Georgian mixing teacaddy, English mahogany tea caddie,
Great looking flame mahogany Georgian tea caddie, dating ca 1800-1820s. The outside is in fair to good condition with a bit of damage on the top back corners and some cracking to the veneer on top. This has in no way compromised the solidity of the structure. The are some lighter spots on the veneer on the back. The interior of the lid is in the original red paper. Both removable lidded boxes to the sides have been re-lined, as has the central holder for the mixing bowl. Both lidded boxes are in OK condition, with some warping to the wood and the left one especially can be a bit harder to open. The paper used came from an antique French leather folder. The paper features staggering lions in brown and has been hand-printed.
The crystal bowl comes with the box and as far as I know, it's the original. It is of a good quality cut and you won't believe the pitch and duration of the sound when you *ping* it.
This box would make a great piece of genuine antique home decoration, or a fantastic gift for the discerning gentleman.
