Retractable chain brooch with Baroque dolphin, key chain, lorgnette or eyeglasses holder, pen holder
A wonderful piece of history, this brooch by Ketcham and McDougall was patented in New York, Feb 24, 1903. The fine chain is retractable on a wheel on the inside of the Baroque dolphin adorned brooch. The chain is actually quite long at ca 18.5 inches. It has a 'stop' built in to leave the chain out, which is a bit finicky and it can take a few attempts to bring all of the chain back in. The dolphin to the front looks to be a gold plate or gold wash and is in good condition. The pin closes with a simple C clasp. It is just under 1 inch in diameter.
