Scottish agate beaded necklace, vintage scottish jewelry
A Scottish agate beaded necklace, the size of the stone varying slightly, being smaller at the closure and largest at the bottom front. The stones have been matched up side by side. One of the red stones (4th from the closure) has been broken and glued. The other beads look to be in good condition, as do the silver beads spacers. These spacers have the discoloration of genuine silver and none of the wear like you would get on silver plate. The necklace closes with a simple hook and is 32.5 inches long. weight: 140 grams
Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce. Each individual Agate stone is unique, displaying beautiful colouring and polished to perfection. Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her trips to Scotland. From the mid 1800's Queen Victoria frequented Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral.
