Victorian treen spool holder, sewing collectible
An old Victorian spool holder, carved from a soft wood (possibly pine) into a column, topped with an acorn. A beautiful piece, but also quite delicate. We find several pieces missing on the foot and a small bit from the spool holder. The spool holder would have been glued into the top but can currently be removed. I left this as-is to allow other uses of the space. Removing the acorn lid reveals space inside the spool holder for needles and inside the acorn for pins? It looks like there is a bit of yellow paper in there that has been poked....a lot.
