Vintage card case, playing card box, Japanese maki-e lacquerware business card case with sakura branches
A beautiful and useful vintage card case or playing card box to fit 2 sets of playing cards, or businesscards. This Japanese Maki-e lacquerware business card case is painted with flowering branches to the front and back (most likely sakura / cherry, maybe peach blossoms). The inside has a central divider, which can be removed.
Condition: With marks of age and use, with a few small losses of the lacquer (pictured) and some fading to the painting of the golden flower branches. Some splitting on 2 corners. Scratching to the edges on the inside of both the bottom and inside the lid - which is not visible when the box is closed. The lid sits well on the body, but does not attach / lock in any way so this item will not be suitable for travel.
Size: 2-15/16" wide x 2-1/4" deep x 4-3/8" tall
