Wooden jewelry box, large vintage wooden box
A gorgeous wooden jewelry box, this beauty once started life off as a cutlery box. The wood has a great bold grain pattern and the structure has been well-made. The lid has been inlaid with a brass shield and engraved with the initial 'W'. The box has one main compartment to the top, lined by a novice in a soft blue fabric and a drawer underneath with a recessed brass handle. The drawer has also been lined in the same blue but is edged with a white, blue and red flower band. The lining could be removed and replaced.
The lock does not have its key. I found a near-match and the lock will turn if the correct size key can be found (old fashioned lock smiths sometimes have large boxes of antique keys and they will be able to find you a match)
The box has some marks of age and use but is overall in good condition. The underside with a crack and repair.
This would be a perfect storage box for jewelry or trinkets, or other small treasures. Because of its masculine design, it would be suitable for men or women, boys or girls. It can hold bracelets, necklaces, rings or watches with ease.
